El jade, símbolo de amor
El jade antiguo

The aztecs said:   (Top)

That when love is lasting, hearts are made of jade

And a Mayan lover could well say to their loved one: My love is so eternal, like jade.

In China, Confucious, the great oriental philosopher, wrote 500 years BC:
Gold has its price, jade is invaluable.

Nowadays one can hear the phrase:
If you have a house, you are a rich man, if you have jade, you are a happy man.

But to the women in the world we can say:

If you are given a house, you are a well-kept woman,
If you are given jade, you are a loved woman.

The House of Jade is the place where we work this precious stone, full of historical and cultural meaning, transforming it into the most exclusive jewellery, with original designs elaborated by expert designers combined with gold, silver and goldfilled.

Jade or Chalchihuite,                (Top)
the jewel stone symbol of life...

For 35 centuries, from the year 2000 BC until the Spanish conquest in the year 1500 of our age, Jade was considered by the towns in the geographical and cultural region of Mesoamerica, as the most precious jewel, the goods of the highest value, the celestial stone and symbol of eternal love.

For these towns there was no other worldly object, neither gold or silver, nor other stones or minerals, as valuable as a stone of  Chalchihuite, as it was also known in the language of nahuatl.

The dignitaries accumulated their wealth through stones and objects processed using jade. When they died they were buried with their necklaces, masks, earpieces and other objects made with this stone.  Also when people did not have the required social and economic status, they managed to be buried with at least  one piece of jade, which was placed in the mouth like a kind of permanent safe-guard  for the meeting with the gods in the afterlife. In ancient times it was believed that the spirit came out of the mouth and with it came a piece of jade, which was their passport to the heavens, which was why nearly all the masks have their mouths open with a piece of Jade inside it.

Jade was considered eternal. If someone recieved gold as a gift , the strength of the metal could be flattened in one single strike. If someone recieved jade, the strength of the stone was indestructable,  as its status was such that there was no other strength more than jade itself that could destroy its form.
